We are a 15 person strong design agency based in West London. We are experts in harnessing insight to deliver strategic design solutions – from concept definition to commercialisation. We help our clients find meaningful connections between human need and emerging science and technology to build future product, packaging and brand pipelines.

Our clients include:

Braun, Bang & Olufsen, Sanofi, LG, Kohler, Wrigley and Nestle Skin Health.

We have recently appointed a new CEO (Miles Hawley) who is a company founder and director. We are also in the process of recruiting a new Chief of Operations.

To ensure good governance and a healthy dose of external stimulus and business experience we are keen to find and appoint a non-executive director to chair the business. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious leader keen to leave their mark on the shape and direction of the business.

Description

Precipice is looking for a non-exec director who will bring business and life experience to provide a creative and informed contribution to our meetings and will act as a constructive critic in looking at the objectives and plans devised by the CEO, COO and the wider team.

The non-exec director role will be a board member position.

Responsibilities

Monitoring performance

You will take responsibility for monitoring the performance of executive management, especially with regard to the progress made towards achieving the determined company strategy and objectives.

Communication

We want you to help us connect the business and board with networks of potentially useful people and organisations. There will be occasions when we will call upon you to represent the company externally.

Risk

You ensure the integrity of financial information and that our financial controls and systems of risk management are robust and defensible.

Audit

It is the duty of the whole board to ensure that the company accounts properly to its stakeholders by presenting a true and fair reflection of its actions and financial performance and that the necessary internal control systems are put into place and monitored regularly and rigorously.

Running Board meetings

You will chair the six board meetings we hold each year and prepare the agenda in consultation with the CEO ensuring our meetings are as focussed and productive as possible – and doing it all with a lightness of touch and an appropriate sense of fun. We take our business seriously - we don’t need to take ourselves too seriously.

Money

A fair deal will be struck with the chosen candidate appropriate to experience.
